We wanted a site that would tell a reader to skip a car, skip a trim level, or skip a repair, even when that meant fewer affiliate dollars.

Every piece is written for a reader making a real decision this month, not a hypothetical reader browsing for entertainment.

We never publish a recommendation without discussing the vehicle's limitations, its ownership costs, and who it actually suits. If a car is a bad fit for most budgets, we say so, even if it is a popular model. If a repair estimate seems inflated, we explain what a fair price range looks like instead of just telling you to "get a second opinion."
